Spotify Now Supports Android 13 Media Player

Third-party apps have been pretty slow to support the Android 13 media player, and Spotify is just getting started.

It starts with a round square pause and a circular play button on the right, smoothly animating between states. On the bottom line, the timeline scribe flanks the last and next song, while Spotify selects shuffle and heart as two additional actions. (This is similar to YouTube Music after being optimized.)

The button toggles to rewind/skip 15 seconds when the podcast is playing, giving you controls to speed up playback and add it to your library. Oddly, long-pressing on the player doesn't show the Hide button that other audio apps allow. Media apps not targeting Android 13 (API 33) previously placed all controls at the bottom for a fairly cramped experience. This has been going on for about four months since the stable release of Android 13 in mid-August.
